Emily Michaels King will perform an expanded version of her award-winning solo show, MAGIC GIRL, at Red Eye Theater. MAGIC GIRL celebrates the rainbow magic of childhood and explores the journey of reclaiming that sparkle as an adult. Fun, funny, bold, and deep, it is a companion work to her 2024 show, STAR KEEPER.
MAGIC GIRL is an iridescent solo show by Emily Michaels King that refracts memory through the prism of personal history to explore inner light, loss of self, and the quest for wholeness. This equally vibrant and bold, vulnerable and deep journey travels from the shimmering world of childhood magic to the dark, sparkle-less realms of maturation where forgetting spreads and glow fades. Weaving movement, light beams, memoir, and nostalgia, MAGIC GIRL harnesses the power of childhood sparkle, unabashed self-love, and the irrepressible fight to reclaim your essential power, become who you were always meant to be, and remember how technicolor you’ve been, all along. So grab your flashlight and a palm full of glitter because we’re on a quest to find a rainbow.
