Kinetic Evolutions and Rushe Dance Project are co-producing a modern contemporary dance concert.

The concept for this collaboration began in late 2019. Rehearsals started and had to abruptly end early spring 2020. All rehearsals were cancelled and the performers went into a pause.
This performance features a progression of dances created primarily during the course of the pandemic. Some choreography was developed through virtual rehearsals or in outdoor environments. Recently rehearsals have been held in person in a dance studio.

A focus was put on interactions and different ways of connecting with each other. Partnering became a health risk and taboo. Physical touch is something the companies have had to rediscover.
The past couple of years have influenced our work and artistic choices. We want to offer a space for everyone to pause from the heaviness of the world and to witness in our shared experience.

#pause: Motion in Pause features choreography by Sarah LaRose-Holland, Samantha Heggem, John Surber and guest choreographer Sarah Hauss.

Performers include:

Kinetic Evolutions dancers: Sarah LaRose-Holland (Artistic Director), Sarah Hauss, Samantha Heggem, Catlin Murphy, Hai Dang Nguyen, John Surber.

Rushe Dance Project dancers: Samantha Heggem (Co-Director), John Surber (Co-Director), Kadie Habana.

*This is a COVID safe event. Masks and proof of vaccination and/or a negative test are required.*
